How to use a USB Flash Drive as RAM in Windows XP
Tech With Dinjin201 – Tech Tips – Episode 1: Here, i will show you how to use a USB Flash Drive as RAM… A few Notes about this: 1. Flash memory can only be written to an x number of times (about 10 million rewrites). this means that after 1-2 years, your “flash-ram” will stop working, and you will have to buy another memory stick… 2. The second thing i wanted to mention is that you need to use ATLEAST a 512 MB Flash Drive for this. I know i used a 128 MB one in the video, but that’s all i had empty for the moment… and as you saw, it didnt do much. 3. Good Luck, Please subscribe, and all comments are appreciated. I have only had one person who said this completely f***ed up his computer. I dont think its very likely. I tested this on my Vaio PCGFRV25 and my Toshiba A45S120. Both sped up when i used my other flash drive (not te crappy one i use in this video)
March 16th, 2010 13:30
Yep, that just means your Internal RAM is already faster than the Flash drive. If your internal RAM was slower, then the flash drive would have taken the load and sped things up for you. However, since it is faster, the flash drive is just slowing it down. That’s why this doesnt work for everyone
