How To: Set-Up Windows 7 XP Mode
An interesting feature of Windows 7 is the ability to run windows xp in a virtual machine in order to use applications that don’t currently work with windows 7. This is different than using other virtual machine options because in the final version of windows 7 several versions will ship with this for free as opposed to other options such as purchasing vmware and an XP license. The steps in this video show you how to get this feature working in the RC of windows 7 (build 7100). Overall, the set-up is very easy and being able to run applications virtually without the entire virtual OS is pretty cool. What CPU do you have? First, you have to make sure that your CPU supports Virtualization Technology. If it doesn’t, then you;re SOL. If it does, than you have to go into the BIOS and enable VT. Most Intel CPUs come with VT already enabled, as far as I know, so I’m assuming that you’re on a retail comp and not a custom build? Oh, and an easy way to find what CPU you have is hit Windows key + Break, and look under System>Processor. Hope this helps!

Sorry to bother you guy’s but my Hardware virtualization has been disabled and “locked off”. what can i do?
February 5th, 2010 04:00

February 5th, 2010 04:32
how do u get rid off “locked off”>?
February 5th, 2010 05:29
Yeah, i was thinking about that.. Intel is also Cheaper
February 5th, 2010 06:08
@strataxx get an Intel Core i5 instead of that AMD crap….
February 5th, 2010 07:07
how much space does the virtual operating system take up?
February 5th, 2010 07:41
nvm i found out it was because WMnetwork lol it took 97% of my cpu xD
February 5th, 2010 08:08
no way i have pentuim 4 and its using 5% with 57 processes
February 5th, 2010 08:26
I have Kaspersky, it Runs bad when i shut down even that lol, i was thinking about the whole motherboard thing, and i have a Dell Inspiron from 2008 with the latest upgrades.. so that might be it xD
February 5th, 2010 08:43
Yay i can
February 5th, 2010 09:38
@IlSilentEarthIl No it won’t work
February 5th, 2010 10:35
@strataxx Unfortunately it won’t. because your adding stuff to your hard drive. If your pc is really that slow try to defrag it or do a disk clean up.
I could also be your anti virus if you use somthing like norton. Or your motherboard doesn’t have full capability with windows 7. try to update
February 5th, 2010 11:23
would this make your computer run better??
I have windows 7 64bit
6GB ram
XFX Radeon ATI HD 4850
AMD 64 X2 5900+ 2.80GHz
and mine freezes, runs like shit.. windows 7 eats 50% of my CPU when running 0 processes.. xD

Agreed! But, eventually I am sure this will fade away into history.. as more and more people who want OS X on their PC’s are installing it by the 1000′s.
February 5th, 2010 12:27
Well mac is a stealing thief company that tries to make everyone buy everything it makes and for a rip off high uncompatible price too.
February 5th, 2010 12:38
This is wishful thinking! Hahaha.. sorry, but no.. Mac OS X is the only OS you WON’T be able to install under windows’s virtual PC. linux, freebsd, YES.. but, MAC OS X? No.. not on your life.. I am sure Emperor Steve would not approve!
My personally? I don’t think its fair that we mac users can run windows, while windows users can’t run mac os x, EXCEPT through hackintosh or hackintosh related cracks to the OS, such as Rebel EFI.
or EFI-X
February 5th, 2010 13:30
so there is nothing u can do if hardware virtualization is no?
February 5th, 2010 13:34
I run Windows 7 64-bit home premium, but Microsoft’s website says it requires at least professional. Will this still work on home premium?
February 5th, 2010 14:08
thx
February 5th, 2010 14:42
