No, things get joined back together; the broken fragmented files.

Defragging does not remove programs. It puts together broken or fragmented files.

Open the start menu, click on run, then type in “cmd” then hit Open. It will open an MS DOS windows in which you will enter “Chkdsk /f”

“Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (C:).

Most people don’t need to defragment the computer because they have a fast computer, but my computer is annoying, tardy when not responding,or having errors.

Just defrag. It may take a while, but be patient. From the readers comments below, you can see that it is worth it :-)

You can. When I go to defrag, it’s usually needed. Remember , most people have never defragged their computer. Analyzing really is not needed at that point. It’s time to just go ahead and get ‘er done.

If I hype the video up to much, people get lost. It may seem boring, but the pace is for a reason; especially for new users.

Microsoft recommends once a month. It really depends on how much you use your computer and how many files you work with. Once a month is a good standard to start with.
