Update: I have just discovered in the video “Virtual PC: Windows 95 Plus!” that the sound schemes in Microsoft Plus! 98 are the same ones from Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95. However, the original startup sound for Windows 95 is the startup for the “Generic” sound scheme in Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95, which turned out to be the “More Windows” theme. For both Microsoft Plus! suites, however, the original Windows 95 and 98 sounds remain under the “Windows Default” and “Windows 95″ or “Windows 98″ themes. @LASTSTAND73 yep “me” did suck. mine crashed all the time. sometimes just for no reason, and sometimes just to piss me off. after 3 years it finally locked up real good and i sent that mother fucker out the window. boy did that make me feel better.

@Crashbndcoot121 I still use the Windows 98 Generic Scheme on Windows 7. Might use the 2k Server Family Beta 3 music though, its kickass.

Windows 2K used the NT Kernel, while ME used MS-DOS 4 (like 95 and 98).
This was still the age where the NT Kernel wasn’t the base for WIndows OSs to come. ME was kind of 2K Home Edition, except it sucked baaaaaaaaaaaad.

@cutelilgumdrop windows 2000 ran on the NT kernel like windows xp or vista but windows me ran on the much slower monolithic dos kernel, like windows 95. windows 2000 was much more stable and was designed for professional use, but me was designed for home use but crashed all the time.
