Its not necessary. I left my keyboard, mouse, internet, all that crap in. This only effects your hard drive, which only deals with the memory of stuff, not your other hardware.

ok i did everything so far but my problem is that after the loading screen ( windows is loading files… ) i dont get the vista colours .. ijust get black screen and it freezes for ever.. :(

@ubahkira “Disc Read Error means you don’t have any operating system on your computer. Try to restart your computer, then boot it from the cd. Then install a clean operating system from the disc and you should be fine.

-_-! Because he failed to mention that my comp is now screwed up and is stuck on “Disc Read Error. Please press ctrl + alt + del to restart” Please if you ca help me fix this because evrytime I restart it keeps going back

OKay yeah um now here’s the thing. I insert the disk it takes me to that black page and says disc read error. How do I fix that?

Ok, so I just watched this video and this looks pretty straight forward but I have 2 things that are really doing my head in… First of all… I dont have any discs that came with my laptop, it came with vista pre installed. Now, I have 2 drives called… Vista (C:) which is my main drive and System (S:) which is like 1.4 gig. If I format my C drive which is what I wanna do, am I then gonna lose Vista or what? If anyone can help me with this then that would be great. Thanks.

kid you failed to mention the fact you need to have it set so that it checks the cd/dvd drive before the hdd

If window vista is in drive c and you going to format drive c then vista will be remove. Everything you format will be erase 4ever.
