When will they start putting Windows 7 onto hard drives for computers?

Well… I am looking for a new computer hard drive because my old one is WAY past old. I heard about Windows 7 and was wondering when it was going to be put onto computers. I know they have the beta out already, but I’m looking for the full thing. Any answers?

Nun... Keine Antworten?

I’m thinking maybe a few days after Windows 7 comes out.

Windows 7 has been released to manufacturers.

The general availability date is Oct 22, so definitely by then, probably about a month before you’ll start seeing computers hit.

If you buy know you can probably get a free upgrade coupon to Windows 7.

it hasn’t even been released yet!
    give them a chance.

download release candidate off the microsoft website, burn it to a dvd, and install it on your new hard drive.

the beta OS will start to shut down when your BIOS date reaches march 2010.

The time for the trial download of the pre-release version is past. Win7 will be on new computers to be sold Nov 1.
However, if your Hard Drive is that old, a Win7 install on your System (which one is it) probably won’t work or will be very difficult (See AllthingsD.com about 4 or 5 weeks ago).

October 22 is the General Availability date, and you’ll find it on some computers from some OEM’s starting then. You’ll be able to buy it in stores then too. (If your computer’s fine but you just need a hard drive, you don’t need to buy a whole new computer to get it.)

You can already buy many new models with Vista and get a free upgrade to Windows 7 upon release, so there’s not a need to wait on a new computer if you need one now.

But otherwise you’ll see it starting October 22. Assumably there will still be some pre-assembled Vista inventory to clear out, so there should be some overlap for a few months with Windows 7 pre-installed on some things but still getting upgrades on others.
