What is Windows 7 and is it better than Vista?
At the moment i use our family computer (its an XP) and have recently been looking into buying myself a laptop. I have just stumbled across windows 7 and it looks very similar to vista…. I wondered if anyone has tried it or knows lots about it? I was thinking maybe windows Vista laptops will be reduced when the Windows 7 software comes out but if its alot better maybe I would be better of buying a new one.
Any tips/information welcome 
Im Moment ich verwende unsere Familie Computer (die ein XP) und vor kurzem wurden auf der Suche zu kaufen mich, einen Laptop. Ich habe gerade stolperte über Windows 7, und es sieht sehr ähnlich Vista.... Mich ich fragte, ob jemand versucht hat, oder weiß viel über es? Ich dachte vielleicht Windows, die Vista Laptops reduziert werden, wenn die Windows 7-Software kommt aber wenn seine viel besser vielleicht ich besser wäre der Kauf eines neuen ein.

It is great i used it and downloaded it. it is similar to vista but microsoft has fixed most of the bugs and changed the style and called it windows 7. it works fantastic i love it. but if possible i would buy a vista pc and down grade it to xp. xp is still the most reliable operating system in th

I would say that windows 7 is an upgraded version of vista, because it is very similar to vista, but a lot of bugs are fixed
windows 7 consumes not so much memory like vista and on my computer it is a lot faster than vista

They essentially stripped Vista down and rebuilt it. The interface looks a lot the same but everything is sleek and stable now under the hood.
They’re already doing free upgrades to Windows 7 for most new computers sold with Vista right now — just confirm if you do one that it’s eligible.
But yes, if you buy a laptop pre-assembled with Vista when Windows 7 comes out, they might go for a little less and still be eligible for upgrade.
You have some people holding off because they want Windows 7 pre-installed though, so you have some good deals on computers with the later free upgrade already happening.
Just keep you eye out for good deals, and if you buy a Vista computer, make sure it’s eligible for the upgrade.

My advice is to take a look at the Windows 7 homepage and see what features are new in Windows 7, and read some reviews on Cnet, PC World, Yahoo etc.
Note that if you buy a laptop now from a participating manufacturer, you will get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it is released on Oct. 22, 2009.

Windows 7 is faster and better than vista, if you buy a laptop now before December u can get a free upgrade of windows 7 when it becomes available.

After using it for over a month, I personally don’t see any difference between Vista and 7 other than the following:
(1) the visuals are way WAY cooler
(2) start menu recent programs each have recent documents (NICE!)
(3) the whole Library business is still confusing to me
(4) the stupid “intuitive” search function is 10x worse (I usually have to open a CMD prompt and go DIR thingI’mlookingfor*.* /S /A to find anything at all, it often reports files can’t be found even when you’re looking right at them).
Other than that, it’s basically Vista with all the menus replaced with ribbons. It’s not any more demanding than Vista, and it seems to retain all of the improvements that Vista made over XP (firewall that kicks in before the OS even loads, better Start Menu, Secure Desktop, and a host of others). You don’t need anything more powerful than a Vista PC to run it.
For the record, Vista is actually pretty friggin awesome. You just have to get used to it. When it first came out, it was too demanding too soon, radically different, and was riddled with more holes than a Switzerland cheese tasting party. Since SP1, they’ve fixed alot, and the hardware standards have caught up with Vista’s higher demands, so other than the search feature, I say holding on to XP at this point is just being clingy.
To answer your question, “will vista laptops be reduced?” … no, they’ll be REMOVED! The only reason they’re rushing 7 out there is because of the dismal flop Vista was and they’re trying to fix Windows’ image, like changing your name from puffy to diddy. I expect them to recall any unsold laptops with Vista to be re-imaged with the 7 OS.
Personally, I’d wait untill they work out the kinks with 7 before buying a 7 laptop. If you want to get a Vista one now, that’s cool too. Either way you’re fine.
