Is it possible to wipe my comp and upgrade to Windows 7 using someone’s recovery discs?

My boyfriend just got a new computer with Windows 7. I am still (sadly) running vista and I would really like to have 7. Is it possible for me to wipe my computer clean (after a back up, of course) and use his discs to get the Windows 7 OS? or am I going to run into registration issues?

Windows 7 can run without activation for 30 days. That should be enough to decide if you want to buy your own copy. Your boyfriend’s key will not work on your system unless your BIOS is identical – which is about as unlikely as having the same fingerprints.

Yes if you have Vista installed, you are able to do a clean installation of Windows 7. And, yes, always back up first! However, Windows 7 is only good for installation on one computer. In other words, you cannot install the same copy of Windows 7 that your boyfriend has on your computer. You will need to purchase your own version if you wish to use Windows 7 as your OS.

    Hope this answers your question!
