HOW CAN I DO AN UPGRADE FROM WINDOWS 7 HOME TO PRO WITHOUT DOING A FULL INSTALL?
6Mar 2010
My university postulated me a windows 7 pro disc. we already have windows 7 home as well as do not wish to go by a total 3-4 hour installation. Is there a approach to do a discerning ascent to pro but a extensive install?
Yes, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You will end up with problems. There is nothing better then to start with a fresh install, rather then trying to build on top something.
Do an “Anytime Upgrade.” I think it’s in Control Panel – System that you can find a link for it. You’ll end up entering the serial, and may have to insert the Pro disc, but it should be a relatively painless install.
And installation shouldn’t take 3-4 hours unless you have on heck of a lot of files to move over when you’re moving from Vista. Going from Home to Pro Windows 7 shouldn’t be a major thing. It just needs to add a couple features.
