Compaq Mini 110c 1100DX unboxing Specs: Intel Atom N270 Processor (1.60 GHz) 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM (1 Dimm) Windows XP Home Edition Webcam 10.1″ WSVGA Anti-Glare Widescreen Display Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with shared graphics memory 802.11b/g WLAM 5-in-1 Digital Media Reader 3-cell Lithium-Ion battery To make the netbook run faster, there are several things you can do: 1. Run windows update and install all new security updates. Do this several times until there are no more updates left. 2. Uninstall Norton Internet Security and install “Microsoft Security Essentials” antivirus: It runs faster and doesn’t slow down the pc as much. 3. Install “Google Chrome” web browser. It’s a new, really fast internet web browser. 4. Run “disk defragmenter” to defrag your hard drive (ONLY if you have the 160GB standard hard drive. The smaller SSD solid state drives need no defragmenting). 5. Upgrade the 1GB ram chip to a 2GB chip if you are a heavy PC user. This will make the netbook more responsive when lots of programs are open like several browser tabs, photo editing, or video editing. If you have any other suggestions or tips, please leave a comment below.

www.digitalhomethoughts.com This is an in-depth review video of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10. As configured from Dell Canada, it cost me $559 CAD in March 2009. This Mini 10 is cherry red in colour, uses the Intel Atom Z530 (1.6 Ghz) CPU, has 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, uses Windows XP Home SP3, has a 10.1 inch 16 aspect ratio screen (1024 x 576 resolution), a 160 GB 5400 RPM 2.5 inch hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel Webcam, a 802.11g WiFi card, and is powered by a 3-cell 24 WHr battery. UPDATE: I did some more video tests using Quicktime and Windows Media Player, and while playback was fine (no obvious glitches like with VLC), the quality of the playback wasn’t great – the GPU really sucks at scaling video, and artifacts popped up constantly.
