Someone fried my computer from a Yahoo chat room. Then it gives me 2 choices: to start windows now, or to press “R” to repair a windows installation using the repair console”. When I choose this option, it takes me to the repair console with a DOS prompt, but there are no commands to “repair”. I was able to scan the hard drive, and did indeed find an error, but don’t know how to fix it.
I isolated the missing or corrupted file, and it’s a system32.dll file. How do I copy this from the startup disk?

If you have any data that you need to retrieve before doing so I would advise that you try a repair install first or use a knoppix live disc / linux live disc.

Other then that do the fixboot command and then try and restart without the xp disc or any other disc and set the hard drive as the first or second boot device .
